Can we make this post or one like it a sticky?

As most of us are painfully aware most Royal Oaks are difficult to obtain from a boutique or AD at list price and almost all have increased in value recently and bring substantial premiums on the secondary market. Demand currently outstrips supply and economics 101 dictates that many people are willing to pay a premium to obtain one now.

Unfortunately there are a lot of counterfeits out there.

If you see any Royal Oak offered for a ridiculously low price, it’s a fake. Currently (July 2021) about the lowest price you can find for a Men’s (35mm+) Royal Oak of any kind is around $14,000. The lowest price on the secondary market for any modern RO is at least $20,000 for a diver.

I cannot stress this highly enough, Buy the seller before you buy the watch.

Any RO offered on places like Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Craigslist, etc for a ridiculously low price is guaranteed to be a counterfeit. You cannot buy a RO for $500 or $1,000 or anything approaching that price level.

Again, any Royal Oak offered at a price that is too good to be true is going to be just that

Unfortunately I’ve also seen high quality counterfeit ROs offered at prices reasonably close to their actual market value… someone with a sob story about needing money is willing to let their 15400ST go for, say, $20,000.

It’s a scam, it’s a fake, you’re going to get burned. There are plenty of sellers out there with good track records for honesty who stand behind the authenticity of anything they sell unequivocally. Buy from them. Period.

What may seem like a “deal” is likely a way to lose a substantial amount of money. Be cautious, be smart, don’t get screwed.
