The Noble M10 sports car was introduced in 1999, and produced for just a year when it was replaced by the Noble M12, a two seater that was offered as both convertible and fixed head coupe variants. Like the M10, it was built with a composite glass fibre body, but the glass fibre chassis was replaced by a steel tubular space frame version. As a result, it had a curb weight of just 980 kg, the same as the M10, which meant that it was not only lightweight but had a firm construction. Of particular note was the distinctive rear wing which, together with a front splitter, increased down force.

The F430 GTC sports car of 2006-2010, developed by Michelotto, despite only 50 being built, turned out to be, according to its customers, one of the most popular racers built by Ferrari. By this time, the Corvette, Aston Martin and BMW had joined Porsche to be worthy adversaries for the 430 Italia GT2 that he now transformed from a 458 road car into a GT Championship contender, The Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 was introduced in 2011 as the latest GTE class racer. The Ferrari Challenge sports car was a single marque racer specifically targeted at the amateur driver. The idea was spawned in Europe in 1993, but soon spread to the US. In 1994, Ferrari introduced the 348 Factory Challenge, which was based on the 348 TB and TS. This was subsequently replaced by: the 355 Challenge in 1996, 360 Challenge Stradale in 1999, and F430 Challenge in 2005. To complete this successful series of racers, the 458 Challenge was introduced in 2010, aimed specifically at the track, and continued on from where the 360 Modena Challenge track racer left off in 1999.

The 458 Spider sports car, also referred to as the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, was introduced in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and priced at $257,000. It was the convertible version of the 458 Italia, and featured a unique retractable hardtop. This was, in essence, a roadster that replaced the conventional soft top with an automatically operated hardtop, made entirely of aluminium, which stored itself away in front of the engine bay in as little as 14 seconds, and without affecting the car’s aerodynamics. The coefficient of drag remained at 0.33.

The Ferrari F430 Challenge sports car was launched in 2005, and based on the F430 production car with its weight radically reduced to 1225 kg following an exhaustive schedule of removing all unnecessary items, from fitments to the interior. Only 100 of these cars were built. In 2006, JMB Racing used the F430 Challenge as the basis for development of a special racer designed to be entered in the FIA GT3 European Championship, and British GT Championship. The resulting car, designated the F430 GT3, was superior to the F430 Challenge in terms of more highly developed aerodynamics and increased output, even though both utilised the same 4.3 litre, V8 engine.

The F430 GTC competition sports car was the concluding expression of development of the 430 Series. It was the natural successor to the Ferrari 360 GTC, which itself was the final evolution of the 360 Series, and was built between 2003 and 2004. Produced during 2006 and 2010 and in collaboration with Michelotto, the Ferrari 430 GTC consisted of the highly successful production F430 Berlinetta whose weight had been reduced to a minimum by removing all unnecessary fitments, such as driver aids and the sumptuous interior.

The six year production run of the Ferrari 360 sports car finally came to an end in 2005. However, its successor, the two seater, mid-engined, Ferrari F430 was waiting in the wings, and was duly launched in 2004 at the Paris Motor Show. The entry level model had a price tag of almost $187,000. The F430’s aerodynamic styling by Pininfarina had substantially increased down force compared with the 360 due, in part, to the addition of a spoiler underneath the front bumper.
