Most high end sports cars and exotics are designed to use high octane unleaded gasoline.
The octane rating of gasoline changes how it combusts. higher octane fuel burns more quickly and can resist higher temperatures and compression levels before self igniting without a spark (called knock).
Some exotics (primarily Koenigseggs) are also able to use fuels with ethanol like E85. This is because they have FlexFuel systems. This technology was pioneered by Koenigsegg and then later became more popular in more regular cars, vans and trucks.
